 Mutations and Cathedrals [Huntress]
« Thread Started on Dec 13, 2008, 12:42am »

Time of Day: 11:30 P.M.
Location(s): Gotham Cathedral
Previous Thread Name: N/A
Characters Appearing: The Question && Huntress
NPCs used: Mutating man.
Plot Summary: While chasing a man into Gotham City's cathedral, Question ends up running into the Huntress.

Damn, Question began to think inside of his head, is it too much to ask for someone to actually stop and not send you on a chase around the city. The sound of Vic's dark black shoes hitting the alleyway's ground filled the silence in the air as he ran after a dark haired gentlemen. Though, it was nice to finally get to action, instead of staying inside an apartment room searching for anything about human mutations. The man turned left, out of the alley and down the sidewalk, Vic continued to follow. All he had to do was chase the man until he grew too tired to keep going, that and not lose him.

Weeks before this little run down, Vic had came across news that man mysteriously mutated in Hub City. So, like always, he decided to do a little sniffing around and try and get to the bottom of this. Perhaps a company's experiment, some new species, or maybe a government mishap. There was no telling at the time, but each passing day, he grew closer and closer to finding out why the person mutated. Then, finally, some new information had led Vic to Gotham City. His first guess was a company that loved to test out unstable chemicals and serums had been doing this to people, but it was only a man that could mutate. So, why not find the man and ask him a few questions about it. But, that only turned into a chase through the streets of Gotham City.

"Come on! Stop!"

But, alas, nothing came from Vic's yelling commands. The man continued to run as fast as he can, only leaving Vic with the option of chasing him into a corner. And just his luck, his corner was a cathedral. The dark haired fellow just pushed one of the doors to the cathedral open and rushed inside. Vic charged at the door, stopping it from closing and running inside to see a giant and empty cathedral. This is going to be slightly difficult, the faceless vigilante said to himself.

Vic pulled out a small, handheld tranquilliser gun, just in case if the man had a thought about attacking him. "Come out, come out," Vic called out, numerous times, in hopes of getting some sort of response.

But, nothing. Vic slowly wandered about the main room of the cathedral looking for any sign of the man.

Huntress was ready to call it a night. Retiring before midnight was something Helena did only once before in her career and that was her first night. The only reason she retired so early was because a gunshot wound forced her to check into Gotham General. Tonight, however, nothing had happened over the course of four hours, all of which was patroling Gotham in search of something, anything. Not to mention the crisp cold weather that seemed to be eating through her skin. Why can't crap like this happen while Bruce is on patrol?" she asked herself as her deep blue eyes scanned the streets below. Besides the bustle of a normal city, nothing was happening. Painstakingly, nothing.

Huntress stood up and ran towards the edge of the roof. She jumped off and fell to the ground, enjoying the wind in her hair. She quickly grabbed the edges of her cape and thrust her arms outwards, creating a way for her to glide safely to the ground. Upon touching down, the masked woman ran in the shadows across the street and towards the nearest fire escape. Mafia Princess Helena Bertinelli climbed up the fire escape quickly and stood on the roof for a moment. Two blocks down the street, Gotham's largest cathedral lit up the street and emitted warm, comforting rays onto the scattered people on the streets. "Its been a while ... Huntress thought. She jumped rooftop to rooftop until she was across the street from the cathedral.

As she prepared to jump down from the roof, Huntress noticed two men running down the street, one dressed in a tan trench coat and a tan fedora. Her left eyebrow rose as the man in the lead burst into the cathedral. The man wearing a fedora and trench coat followed quickly behind by entering the cathedral. "Question ... ?" she thought. Huntress jumped down from the roof and ran into cathedral. "I thought it was you. Long time no see, Q" Huntress said as she flaunted towards him. "What brings you back to Gotham?" Huntress stood next to the faceless hero. She knew he was chasing a man but she didn't know who he was or what he did. She would soon find out.

Stopping at the end of the cathedral's main room, Vic placed his right hand on the top of his brown fedora. It wasn't in attempt to make sure it stayed on, but more of a sign of annoyance from the long chase to only end in failure inside of a cathedral. Got to find him, he thought inside of his head. Lowering the dark black tranquilliser gun, Vic looked down at the ground for a few seconds. "If I were a man who had problems that contained mutating," the faceless vigilante began to speak out loud, "where would I hide?" Vic lifted his head back up and looked around once more, his blank face just moving in different directions.

His train of the thought about the man were soon interrupted by the sound of the cathedral doors being pushed open. Turning his head, the faceless hero saw a very familiar face. "..... Huntress...." that was all he managed to let escape his mouth, just her name. It had been quite a while since he had seen her, even longer since he had spoken to her. Not because of a feud or pure hatred, simply due to the fact that he didn't want another relation form between the two of them. Strange appearance, he began to think, I was well prepared for a Batman appearance but Helena, she always catches a guy off guard. His faceless stare just aimed in the direction of one of Gotham's many vigilantes.

Her question quickly broke the silence that had began to fill the air. Hmmm... It was quite a complex question. Sure, the man might not even be able to mutate and he would just look plain crazy with that out come, but then again he could be right and stop a massive outbreak of mutating men and women destroying towns and cities. "People mutating. I had gained some information about a man in Gotham with the ability and I decided to pay him a visit and ask a few questions. But, it seems he isn't someone who likes to cooperate." Vic spoke, still wondering if the man was still in the vicinity hiding. "Do you think you can lend a hand and help me find him?" Vic wanted the man, he needed answers and he needed them now. The more knowledge he had the closer he was to find out the cause of the recent happenings.
